We are pleased to announce the release of eFolder version 3.7.5, as well as the release of a new version of Exchange email archiving. The new backup software is a minor version release and includes reliability enhancements across the entire product. In total, this release includes 31 enhancements.

As a minor version release, it will not automatically be installed, but rather users can upgrade on demand, or you can use a new command in the web portal to force the software to upgrade (go to the new account center, find the account, right click it, and choose More Actions -> Schedule Upgrade). All branded setup executables have been updated and are available for immediate download.

More self-healing logic.
This release primarily focuses on improved “self-healing” backup behavior for rare or transient error conditions (e.g., unusual packet loss conditions). The log viewer can now properly open log files larger than 200 MB in all cases. Integration with ShadowProtect ImageManager has been improved to fully support monitoring the new version of ShadowProtect (version 4.0). Minor enhancements to the backup summary reports and notification emails are also included.

Background maintenance tasks.
This version will now perform periodic account maintenance tasks for larger accounts within a background job that is logged separately and will show up in the user interface as a maintenance job.

Enhanced end-user email archive search.
The new version of email archiving includes an enhanced end-user archive search interface that allows much easier navigation when the search results encompasses several pages worth of items. To upgrade email archiving, first stop the email archiving application pool in the IIS manager, then open the backup manager and go to Tools menu -> Email Archiving -> Install and choose to upgrade. Then
restart the email archiving application pool in the IIS manager.

BDR appliances are shipping!
Much excitement has been generated with the launch of our new BDR business continuity appliance. It allows you to perform bare-metal backups of servers and desktops plus the ability to instantly virtualize a down server or desktop on the BDR appliance (no data conversion is required, the bare-metal backup images are mounted directly as a snapshot in the virtual machine hypervisor). If you haven’t heard the details yet, give us a call or review the pricing and product literature in the partner center.
